Tender Years Creche in Naas has become the latest creche to exit the Core Funding contract effective September 1, 2024.
The decision, as outlined in a letter to parents, has been deemed necessary to keep the creche open.
According to a letter signed by Managing Directors Claire Doyle and Tracy Smullen, the creche has been operating under 2020 fee structures despite rising costs across various sectors.
The directors highlighted several financial pressures, including increases in ERO pay rates, mandatory pension contributions, building expenses, and the cost of retaining qualified staff.
It stated that the rising costs have made it unsustainable to continue under the current funding arrangement.
To address the financial challenges, Tender Years Creche has announced a fee increase effective from September 2024.
The revised fees are as follows:
Full-time care for children over 1 year old (without ECCE):
5 days per week: €1,350 per month
With NCS credit of approximately €385, the net cost to parents will be €965 per month.
Full-time care for children with ECCE (September to June):
5 days per week: €1,350 per month
With ECCE credit of €245 and NCS credit of approximately €256, the net cost to parents will be €848.20 per month.
Full-time care for children with ECCE (July):
5 days per week: €1,350 per month
With NCS credit of approximately €385, the net cost to parents will be €965 per month.
Afterschool care:
Based on a 5-hour day for 4 weeks: €800 per month
With NCS credit of approximately €171, the net cost to parents will be €629 per month.
The letter reassures parents that NCS and ECCE subventions will still apply, regardless of the creche's decision to exit the Core Funding contract.
The directors expressed hope that parents would understand the necessity of these changes.
The creche's decision reflects the broader financial pressures faced by childcare providers.
