KCC can vary the base level of the levy by +/-15%
Today is the final day on which Kildare people can contribute to a public consultation on the rate of Local Property Tax next year.
Changes announced by Government in May mean that 7,400 homes in the county, built since 2013, will be brought in to the tax net for the first time.
Kildare County Council is empowered to vary the base level of the levy by +/-15% , or it can elect to make no change.
The charge period for Local Property Tax runs from November 1st to October 31st.
Any variation is effective for that one year period, after which the rate reverts back to the original basic rate unless a further decision on a local variation is made by the Elected Members.
The Council will meet later this month to consider the setting of a local adjustment factor for the year 2022
