Speaking on Kildare Today, Grainne Griffin from the CCPC says issues with used cars caused a lot of complaints.
Ticketmaster, Eir and Ryanair were the top three companies which generated the most contacts to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission last year.
But buying a second-hand car was the most common reason why consumers contacted the organisation.
Its helpline received almost 45 thousand calls last year, up 13 per cent on the previous.
Vehicles and transport topped the list of sectors consumers got in touch about, followed by telecommunications, and home building and improvements.
Over 1.8m people visited the CCPC website last year.
Speaking on Kildare Today, Grainne Griffin from the CCPC says issues with used cars caused a lot of complaints and that locals are becoming more confident in their ability to complain about services, businesses and products.
She said the €2k cap for small claims at District court level means a cohort of people are "barred from justice" when trying to deal with claims that exceed €2,000.
