Kildare County councillors will decide on Monday whether to nominate Maria Steen to contest the presidential election.
The proposal was brought forward by Councillor Tom McDonnell (Ind) and backed by Councillor Noel Heavey (FF) and Councillor Brian O’Loughlin (FF), who submitted the motion ahead of Monday’s Special Meeting.
Ms Steen did not present in-person at the council.
