Speaking to Kfm, Garda Chris Fallon said the incident happened on Sunday near Verona chipper on Duke Street, at around 1.50am.
Two men socialising in Athy on Sunday were attacked by three males not known to them.

He said one of the males attacked is making a recovery.
Gardai are appealing for any witnesses around the location at the time to contact Athy Garda station on 059 8634210.
They said the area would have been busy.
