It comes as concerns have been raised about the timeline of the road resurfacing, as works near completion
Uisce Éireann have issued a statement in relation to ongoing works between Kilmeague and the top of the Hill of Allen and the timeline for the road being resurfaced after the works.
The statement is as follows:
"As part of its National Leakage Reduction Programme, Uisce Éireann is continuing its work in the Allenwood area to provide a more reliable water supply to the community and reduce high levels of leakage.
Uisce Éireann has prioritised almost 4km of water mains for replacement which will ensure a reduction in disruption from bursts and supply interruptions for customers, instilling greater confidence in the community.
The project also involves laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers’ property boundaries and connecting it to the customers’ water supply.
It is important to note that the works in the Allenwood area are still underway. Temporary reinstatement is undertaken during the course of these works, with permanent reinstatement carried out once works are fully complete. It is expected to carry out permanent reinstatement in the coming months.
Crews will continue to monitor the area to ensure reinstatement works are progressed in line with expected standards and in accordance with the Road Opening licence conditioned by Kildare Roads Authority.
Please be advised that timelines for temporary and permanent reinstatement works are subject to suitable weather conditions.
We acknowledge the inconvenience that may be caused to residents and would like to reassure the local community that the matters raised are being addressed and that works on site are continuing."
