A progress update has been given in relation to plans for a second bridge in Newbridge.

It was said that the Department of Transport have to approve the tendering documents before the tendering process can take place
Speaking on Kildare Today, Independent Councillor for Kildare-Newbridge MD Tom McDonnell insisted that it needs to be prioritised to alleviate traffic in the town:
"We need to prioritise it,the whole town is congested, it's been very slow with moving that forward."
Cllr McDonnell added that an exact timeline hadn't been given for the bridge.
