Its to facilitate an "outdoor summer".
Kildare County Council is proposing to develop the Courthouse Square in Newbridge.
The plan includes the installation of outdoor seating and picnic tables in an area which has "witnessed anti-social behaviour" in the last.
Kildare Senator, Fiona O'Loughlin, says “The proposed changes will make the area more attractive, more fit for purpose, and it will allow us to enjoy our lovely town more comfortably. It will also tie in well with proposed investment in George’s Street.
“The addition of public seating is something we have all wanted to see for some time. If we are expected to enjoy an outdoor summer this year, then seating facilities are essential, and its great to see Kildare County Council including this in the plans. I have always been a passionate advocate for inclusion, and for equality, so I am particularly pleased to see that wheelchair accessible picnic tables are included in the plans”
