The issue was raised by Independent Cllr Pat Balfe in the recent Kildare-Newbridge MD
Plans to install new a bus stop in Maddenstown is set to progress in the coming months, following the council's confirmation earlier this year that bus stop and shelter upgrades are progressing across the Kildare–Newbridge Municipal District.
In a question at the recent Kildare-Newbridge MD meeting, Independent Cllr Pat Balfe asked for an update and timeline for the construction and installation of the proposed bus shelter at Maddenstown, near the Curragh plains.
In response, Kildare County Council confirmed that the proposed bus shelter at Maddenstown is part of a batch of bus shelter projects which is currently at tender stage.
Works on the bus shelter is to commence in May, subject to NTA approval and bus shelter availability.
"There's no shelter whatsoever there for the residents that live there", said Cllr Balfe on this morning's Kildare Today.
"It is quite an established and elderly population [...], so it's something that we'll be keeping on eye on for the residents of Maddenstown".
