Update: Normal water supply is now returning to customers affected.

The areas affected are Rathvilly, Bough, Cuckoo Corner, Slaney Bank, Ricketstown and surrounding areas in Carlow and Castledermot, Moone and Timolin and surrounding areas in South Kildare.

Repairs are expected to be completed later this afternoon; it may take two to three hours after this to restore normal supply to all customers affected by this unplanned interruption.
