In one case a disposable glove was found inside a pie, while hair, insects, stones, and pieces of metal and glass are the most commonly reported objects.
The FSAI says 'foreign body contamination of food' was frequently reported.
Customers reported a maggot found in soup, a metal screw in spareribs, glass in porridge and sweet potato fries, and hair found in numerous takeaways.
