Body Found At Wheatfield Prison Sparks Garda Investigation

Gardaí have launched an investigation after the body of a man in his 30s was discovered at Wheatfield Prison in Dublin.

Gardaí are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man at Wheatfield Prison in Clondalkin.

The body of a man, who was aged in his 30s, was discovered at the prison on Thursday.

The man was sentenced to two years and nine months for possession of drugs for sale or supply.

A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the inquiry, while a Family Liaison Officer has also been assigned to support the man's family.

The Garda National Technical Bureau has been requested to assist with the investigation, and the Coroner has been notified.

Investigating Gardaí are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination, which will help determine the direction of the investigation.

The incident follows the death of another prisoner at Wheatfield Prison earlier this week, after an alleged assault.
