It follows an online video appearing to show the former Taoiseach suggesting there are too many people coming into the country, saying he was particularly concerned about those arriving from Africa, and ‘the next generation of Muslims’.
Mr Ahern also said he had no problem with Ukrainians but he had concerns about people arriving here from Africa.
The clip, filmed without his knowledge, took place while Mr Ahern was out during a Dublin Central by-election canvas.
