It comes less than a week after SSE Airtricity announced a price hike for their customers
The company says the rise in unit rates and standard charges will see a typical electricity bill increase by 8.8 per cent.
A typical gas bill will go up by 9.3 per cent.
The firm says the changes are due to sustained increases in the cost of supplying energy, including higher network charges and broader inflationary pressures.
The new rates will take effect from the 9 October.
