Gardaí have arrested a man following a hijacking incident that occurred in the early hours of this morning on the Belgard Road.
At approximately 2:45 AM, a man was stopped at traffic lights in Clondalkin when he was approached by another man brandishing a knife.
The assailant got into the car and forced the motorist to drive to another location.
The victim managed to escape and reported the incident to Gardaí.
Gardaí located the abandoned vehicle and arrested a man in his 30s nearby.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the hijacking or who was in the area at the time to come forward.
Road users and pedestrians with dashcam or CCTV footage are also urged to contact Gardaí.
