Covid-19 Cases Rise By Over A Quater In The Past Week

Public urged to be careful while socialising over the bank holiday weekend.

The five-day moving average of Covid-19 cases has risen by 26 per cent in the past week.

It now stands at 2,123 - compared to 1,685 a week ago.

The chief medical officer, Tony Holohan, says people should be careful as they socialise over the bank holiday weekend.

Dr Martin Daly, a former president of the Irish Medical Organisation, says the health service is under big pressure.
