Drivers between the age of 70 and 75 can now reapply for a drivers licence without the need for a medical assessment.
The Road Safety Authority and Royal College of Physicians is updating it's fitness to drive guidelines today.
Previously, anyone over 70 needed a medical check-up when they were reapplying for a licence.
However, drivers in this age bracket will have to self-declare any potential impairments like all drivers.
