This Garda, who can't be identified for legal reasons, was arrested at Kevin Street Garda station in Dublin this morning.
He's charged with four counts of soliciting an unknown person to murder his three children and their mother.
He faces a further charge of attempting to stop the mother seeking financial support for his child.
The 33-year-old appeared before Dublin District Court this morning, where it was heard he made no reply when charged.
The court was told the DPP has directed the accused be sent forward for trial at the Central Criminal Court.
He was remanded on bail with conditions, including surrendering his passport, and will appear in court again on the 25th of September for service of the book of evidence.
