The government has agreed to take in 500 additional Ukrainian refugees from Moldova.
A virtual Cabinet meeting this afternoon also heard work has started on identifying sites for modular build homes to house refugees.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin said part of the work is making sure there are strong checks on anyone offering to take in Ukrainian refugees to their own homes.
The news comes after it was revealed that a County Clare homeowner had offered his home in a sex-for-rent arrangement.
A Clare TD says he was appalled to hear of a landlord asking Ukrainian women for sex in return for free accommodation.
Fianna Fáil's Cathal Crowe has now asked for extra vetting to be introduced for those accommodating refugees.
