Gardai put its total street value at just under €33m.
A Kerry businessman has admitted his role in the State’s largest seizure of crystal meth.
Nathan McDonnell, from Ballyroe in Tralee, was arrested after almost €33m of the drug was seized in Cork.
On the 16th of October last year, Gardai and officers from the Revenue Customs Service swooped on a shipping container at the Port of Cork.
Inside the container, which was destined for Australia, was over 500kg of methamphetamine, more commonly known as crystal meth.
Gardai put its total street value at just under €33m.
Today, Nathan McDonnell, the former CEO of the well-known Ballyseedy Garden Centre just outside Tralee, admitted his role in importing the drugs.
His sentence hearing is due to take place in December.
Meanwhile, the 6th of October next year was set as the trial date for another man charged in connection with the seizure.
