€180,000 seized during search of west Dublin home.
A man has been arrested as part of an investigation into the supply of drugs into Wheatfield and Cloverhill Prisons.
180 thousand euro was also seized during a search of a home in west Dublin.
During the search, Gardaí from the Drugs Unit in Ronanstown seized the quantity of cash, a designer watch valued at 10 thousand euro, and a number of mobile phones.
A 42 year old man was arrested and taken to a garda station in the Dublin region, where he can be held for up to 24 hours.
It operation follows a previous seizure involving a drone and a quantity of diamorphine intended for delivery into a west Dublin prison on Monday February 12th.
Both incidents are part of a local initiative under Operation Tara, targeting the supply of drugs into Wheatfield and Cloverhill Prisons.
In a statement today, the Irish Prison Service thanked the Gardaí for their continued efforts to keep drugs out of prisons - adding that prison staff have increased the use of random and intelligence led cell searches on a daily basis, and its Canine Unit carries out regular searches, particularly on deliveries.
