A man has died and a woman is in a critical condition after two cars crashed in County Louth.
The crash happened at 5 o'clock this morning on the N33 at Richardstown in Dunleer.
The man in his twenties who died was a front seat passenger in one of the cars involved,
The other occupants of this vehicle, two men in their twenties, were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver and sole occupant of the other car involved, a woman in her twenties, was taken to the Mater Hospital in Dublin, where she is currently in a critical condition.
The road is currently closed and the services of Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested, local diversions are in place.
Drogheda Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
They specially want to hear from any road users who may have camera footage, who were travelling on the N33 at Richardstown at around 5a.m.
