The consumer watchdog was contacted over 42,000 times last year with complaints about goods or services.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) says the number of complaints about online purchases was up 14 per cent, while complaints about building or home improvement services were up 12 per cent compared to 2024.
In total, 42,791 consumers contacted the CCPC.
61 per cent of those who escalated their complaint to the CCPC had contacted the business involved five or more times before doing so.
Issues with cars was the biggest driver of complaints, with 5,827 contacts about vehicles.
Ryanair, Currys and Carlow's Rathwood were the most complained about companies last year.
