The man is understood to have been a plumber in the West Clare area.
A man who died in an air crash in Miltown Malbay yesterday has been named locally as Michael Flynn.
Mr Flynn who's believed to be in his 60s, passed away when the microlight aircraft he was piloting crashed off the Ballard Road yesterday evening.
The man is understood to have been a plumber in the West Clare area and had been involved with Gaelic Games locally over the years.
The Air Accident Investigation Unit is to begin a survey and technical examination at the site the crash later.
Emergency services were alerted to the crash in a field near Miltown Malbay at around 5 o'clock yesterday evening.
Gardaí, Ambulance, Clare County Fire Service and the Athlone-based Emergency Aeromedical Service Ambulance all attended the scene.
The pilot was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gardaí have sealed off the area.
