One of the biggest wind energy companies in the world has pulled out of the Irish market.
Among Equinor's plans was the development of a large offshore wind farm in Co. Clare at a cost of 2 billion euro.

However the Irish Examiner reports the Norwegian company's withdrawing due to the planning laws that exist for offshore development.
The paper's special correspondent, Mick Clifford, says it had agreed a number of projects with the ESB since coming into the market in 2019:
