He’s facing 83 charges of indecent assault.
A retired school principal has appeared in court accused of sexually abusing twenty boys.
80-year-old Patrick Harte, from Glendown Park, Templeogue, Dublin, is alleged to have abused the boys over a 28-year period, starting in 1967.
Following an investigation by the Divisional Protective Services Unit at Kevin St Garda Station, Patrick Harte was charged with 90 counts of sexual abuse.
He’s facing 83 charges of indecent assault, one attempted indecent assault and six sexual assaults in relation to twenty boys.
The abuse is alleged to have taken place on various dates between 1967 and 1995 and most of it is said to have happened at Sancta Maria CBS in Dublin city.
Mr Harte was a teacher there before he went on to become school principal.
The Director of Public Prosecutions has directed that he be tried before Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.
There was no application for bail so the 80 year old was remanded in custody to appear in court again next week.
