Some Hospital Charges For Children Set To Be Scrapped

For children under the age of 16.

Some hospital charges for children are set to be scrapped this summer under plans going to Cabinet.

Health Minister Stephen Donnelly will brief colleagues on plans to scrap overnight and day bed charges for children under 16.

Statutory overnight charges are €80 a day capped at €800 a year.

Emergency Department charges for children will remain in place.

Minister Donnelly will tell his Cabinet colleagues he intends to bring forward legislative changes before the Dáil's summer recess.
