State CEOs Could Be In Line For Pay Rise As Cabinet Approves Salary Reform

Cabinet has approved a new process to determine the salaries of the CEOs of state commercial bodies.

It aims to bring the salaries of CEOs more in line with the private sector - which is likely to lead to increases in pay for those at the top of those agencies.

Public Expenditure Minister Jack Chambers wouldn't be drawn on whether he thinks it's value for money.

Meanwhile, the Housing Minister is being accused of seeking a job share arrangement by establishing the new Housing Activation Office.

The measure was approved by Cabinet this morning, in a bid to break down barriers to further housing delivery.

It's set to be headed by current NAMA chief Brendan McDonagh, who looks set to retain his €430,000 salary - but no name was discussed at Cabinet.

Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald says the salary is outrageous.
