A government TD's calling for equine officers to be appointed by each local council to clamp down on cruelty towards horses.
Fianna Fail's Padraig O'Sullivan's making the call, after a photo of a dead pony on the side of the road in Cork started circulating online.
He believes such cruelty will continue unless current laws are enforced.
