Gardaí say three fatal road collisions have occurred this weekend, bringing the number of deaths on Irish roads this year to 72.
Gardaí have revealed that more than 3,140 drivers were detected speeding during the June Bank Holiday road safety operation.
The nationwide campaign, which runs until Tuesday, has also seen over 140 motorists arrested on suspicion of drivings under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
More than 340 road users were found using a mobile phone or not wearing a seatbelt during the operation.
