Beirne Laments 'Same Old Story' After Munster Exit

Kildare's Tadgh Beirne says Munster's Challenge Cup defeat to Exeter followed a familiar pattern.

Munster's captain Tadgh Beirne admitted it was "the same old story" after their Challenge Cup exit to Exeter Chiefs.

The province conceded 31 unanswered points in the first half, with Beirne pointing to inaccuracies and mistakes that were punished clinically by the hosts.

Munster showed improvement after the break, but the early deficit left too much to do, with Beirne highlighting missed opportunities and repeated errors as a key issue. Admitting, "it’s inaccuracy around some of our set-piece, accuracy out the back with dropped balls. In fairness to Exeter they were clinical. Intercept, drop ball, try. Drop ball out wide, try."

The Kildare man said the frustration lies in familiar problems continuing to cost Munster in big games this season.
