An additional 1.5 million euro will be made available to the Gaelic Players' Association.
The government's Budget 2026 is set to include a total of €3 million for League of Ireland academies.
The League of Ireland department in the FAI had lobbied for funding of 4.5-million euro.
The full amount would have created up to 80 jobs in clubs around the country.
The funding will be administered through Sport Ireland rather than the FAI.
Elsewhere in the budget, the GAA are to receive an additional 983 thousand euro with 727 thousand going to the IRFU.
While an additional 1.5 million euro will be made available to the Gaelic Players' Association.
An additional 18.7 million looks set to be made available for facilities under a new round of the Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.
