And after setting a new Irish senior record yesterday, Shane Ryan qualified from his heat in the men's 50-metre backstroke with a time of 22.98.
Jack Cassin equalled an Irish record in his first World Championships as he swam a 1:53.19 in the men's 200-metre butterfly, but did not qualify for the semi-final.
Nathan Wiffen finished fifth in his heat with a time of 3 minutes 44.05 in the 400-metre freestyle but also failed to qualify.
