Former Kildare hurler Johnny Byrne has been ratified as the new manager of the Longford senior hurlers for 2027.
Byrne currently plays hurling with Coill Dubh and football with Allenwood, and has represented his county in both codes, most recently in hurling.
He retired from inter-county football in 2020, before switching to hurling, central to their Christy Ring success in 2022.
He takes over from fellow clubman Diarmuid Cahill.
Byrne inherits a Lory Meagher winning outfit, and can look forward to managing at the Nicky Rackard grade next year against Tyrone, Mayo, Sligo, Louth, Fermanagh and Roscomon.
