Munster have confirmed that Eadestown Tadhg Beirne will remain as captain for the upcoming season.

The 33-year-old forward took the armband from legendary back-rower Peter O'Mahony ahead of last season.

New head coach Clayton McMillan has opted to keep the Kildare man in the role, calling him a "world-class player" whose "level of performance never drops."

The province get their URC campaign underway this Saturday, with a trip to the Scarlets.
