Naas and Maynooth hurlers in weekend Leinster quarter finals; Kildare's O'Brien, Byrne and Tracy in Leinster Rugby team vs Ulster.

 

A busy weekend for 2 Kildare club teams in Leinster quarter-final hurling action.

Senior champions Naas play Dublin Intermediate champions Castleknock in the Leinster Intermediate quarter final in St. Conleth's Park, tomorrow at 1pm.

Kfm will have commentary with Ger McNally, and former Kildare goalkeeper Paul Dermody.

On Sunday, county intermediate champions Maynooth playTrumera of Laois at 1pm, in Manguard Plus Hawkfield.

Kfm will have updates with Ger McNally from 1pm.

An update is expected later on the status of Munster's United Rugby Championship matches in South Africa.

Munster are due to play the Bulls tomorrow, and the Lions next week.

However, the emergence of a new Covid variant now looks set to postpone both games.

Munster intend to fly home later today, according to reports.

 

The Leinster Rugby team to play Ulster in the RDS Arena tomorrow in the United Rugby Championship has been named.

Eadestown’s Jimmy O'Brien starts at full back, with Kill’s Adam Byrne on the right wing and Jordan Larmour on the left.

Robbie Henshaw and Ciarán Frawley are the Centres.

Scrum half Luke McGrath captains the side, Ross Byrne is at outhalf.

The front row is Ed Byrne, Tadhg Furlong and Kill’s James Tracy at hooker.

Ross Molony and Devin Toner are the 2nd row.

The back row is Dan Leavy, Scott Penny and Rhys Ruddock

 

In the AIL Division 1B, Naas are away to Shannon tomorrow at 2.30.  Kfm will have live updates of the game with Jim Casey.

In Division 2A, MU Barnhall are away to Dolphin at 2.30

Manchester United are hopeful of reaching an agreement with Lokomotiv Moscow so that Ralf Rangnick can join the club in the next 24 to 48 hours.

The 63 year old will be interim manager at Old Trafford until the end of the season.

At that stage, he will assume a technical consultancy role with United for another two years.

Former Rio 2016 and Brazilian Olympic Committee President Carlos Arthur Nuzman has been sentenced to 30 years and 11 months in jail for buying votes for Rio de Janeiro to host the 2016 Olympics.

He was found guilty of money laundering, tax evasion, corruption and criminal organization.

Nuzman was convicted of arranging more than $2 million in bribes to get the IOC to pick Rio de Janeiro as host of the 2016 Olympics. Rio was awarded the Games in 2009, beating Chicago, Tokyo and Madrid.
