Having been awarded their All Stars yesterday morning, David Clifford, Cillian McDaid and Shane Walsh are all vying for Footballer Of The Year.

Kildare had one All-Star nominee this year, Sarsfields' Ben McCormack became the first nominee for Sarsfields since Dermnot Earley & Alan Smith in 2009.

Kildare's last winner was Athy's Mick Foley in 2011.

On Saturday Éire Óg Chorra Choill's hurlers face Shamrocks of Offaly in the Leinster Junior Club Championship.

Irish captain Andrew Balbirnie says it's disappointing their T20 World Cup clash with Afghanistan was abandoned.

There was no play at the MCG in Melbourne this morning due to persistent rain.

The points will now be shared - with Ireland up to second in Group One ahead of Monday's meeting with Australia.

Rory Gaffney scored the Hoops' goal at Tallaght Stadium, with the hosts finishing with ten men after Justin Ferizaj's dismissal.

Elsewhere, Republic of Ireland under-21 midfielder Conor Coventry played 84-minutes of West Ham’s 1-0 win at home to Silkeborg.
