SOCCER

Evan Ferguson will miss the Republic of Ireland's upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Portugal and Hungary.

A scan has confirmed that the striker suffered ankle ligament damage in Roma's win against Parma on Wednesday night.

Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini had been hopeful it was just a sprain, but Ferguson is now likely to be out for three weeks.

Ireland manager Heimir Hallgrimsson will name his squad next week, with Robbie Brady, Will Smallbone, Jason Knight, and Sammie Szmodics already out through injury.

Kieran McKenna insists all his focus is on Ipswich Town - rather than speculation linking him with the Celtic job.

He's understood to be one of the leading candidates to take over at the club he supported as a boy.

Former Hoops boss Ange Postecoglu is reportedly out of the running to succeed Brendan Rodgers at Parkhead.

Coventry will move six points clear at the top of the Championship with a win away at Wrexham this evening.

Frank Lampard's side are going for a seventh consecutive victory.

The cost of the proposed redevelopment of Dalymount Park has risen to 63-million Euro.

A new report on the report has revealed that Dublin County Council intend to borrow 34-million Euro to provide funding for the project to get underway in 2027.

It would see Bohemians temporarily leave Dalymount in 2026, with a planned completion date in 2028.

RUGBY

Andy Farrell has rejected the idea that his team are 'undercooked' heading into tomorrow's opening November International against New Zealand.

With a host of players coming back off the Lions' tour of Australia, most of tomorrow's starting side in Chicago have had a lack of game time this season.

DARTS

Ireland's Keane Barry has booked a place at the PDC World Darts Championship.

The Meath man has qualified for December's tournament at the Alexandra Palace by reaching the quarter-finals at the Players Championship 34.

It's moved Barry up to 55th on the PDC rankings, and he's now also set to compete in the Players Championship Finals next month.
