He admits it was 'hard to take'
Josh van der Flier admits being left out of the Lions team for their Test matches against Australia was 'hard to take'.
The 2022 world player of the year featured in four matches of the tour but didn't get a Test cap as the Lions overcame the Wallabies 2-1 in the series.
Van der Flier says it was tough not to make the team, but he respects the honest communication he received from head coach Andy Farrell:
