John Higgins won the last three frames of the session to trail 9-7.
Jones will play the winner of the Ronnie O’Sullivan and Stuart Bingham match which resumes at half-two, all-square at four frames apiece.
While David Gilbert needs just three more frames to book his semi-final spot as he leads Stephen Maguire 10-6.
