1997 World Champion Ken Doherty has announced his retirement from professional snooker.
The Dubliner turned professional in 1990, and made a further two World finals during his career, as well as three UK Championship deciders.
His finest moment came when he defeated Stephen Hendry at the Crucible in Sheffield to win the 1997 World Championship.
The 56-year-old confirmed he is stepping back from the main tour, but will continue to play on the senior circuit.
