Naas Into All Ireland Final, Monasterevin's Melia's MVP Cup Winning Brilliance

 

Naas are into the AIB All Ireland Intermediate Hurling final on February 5th in Croke Park, after yesterday’s 18 points to 13 semi final win over Tooreen of Mayo. 

They will play Kerry champions Kilmoyley in the final

An understrength Kildare hurling side, minus the Naas contingent, suffered their 2nd Kehoe Cup defeat yesterday, losing to Westmeath by 6-21 to 0-20.

This evening’s Kildare Scoreboard, from 6.30, will review the game, including post-match interiews

An all Kildare Leinster Colleges senior A football final is on the cards.

On Saturday, Naas CBS were 3-13 to 1-10 winners over Marist College Athlone in their Quarter Final replay. 

They will play Tullamore's Colaiste Choilm in the semi-final. 

The winners of that game will play Maynooth SLS in the final, after they beat Scoil Mhuire of Clane in the semi-final yesterday by one point:  3-10 to 2-12.

Kildare football focus this week is on the start of the Allianz National Football League.

Kerry come to Newbridge on Sunday, with Jack O’Connor having swopped roles from Kildare to Kerry.

The game throws-in at 1.45, and as usual Kfm will have coverage from 1.30pm, in association with Hanlon Concrete, Robertstown.

In Camogie on Saturday, Celbridge were beaten by reigning Leinster and All Ireland champions St Rynagh's of Offaly in the Leinster Intermediate Championship Quarter Final, 9-12 to 0-4. 

Its just over a month since the same sides contested the 2020 Leinster final

In Champions Cup Rugby, Leinster winger Eadestown’s Jimmy O’Brien set a record, scoring 4 of Leinster’s 10 tries in the 64 - 7 win away to Bath win away to Bath.

In the last 16, Leinster will play Connacht over two legs in April.

In the women’s National Basketball Cup final yesterday, Monasterevin’s Claire Melia won the MVP award for a game changing performance.

Her UCC Glanmire’s hopes of an eighth cup title looked dead at the start of the final quarter, when DCU led by 14 points

But the Cork side produced a 21-point turnaround due to Melia’s brilliance.

In that period, she scored 10 points of her 21 points game tally (with 11 rebounds).

It was her three-pointer, which tied the game 60 all,with four minutes left,.

From there UCC Glanmire went on to win by 72-65
