GAELIC GAMES

Eadestown Senior Ladies are through to the semi-final of the Leinster Championship.

Yesterday they beat Portlaoise 2-10 to 3-06.

KFM's Tara Byrne spoke to Manager Brian Willis after the win:

Eadestown face Tinahealy of Wicklow next Sunday at 2pm, in Eadestown GAA.

SOCCER

Manchester City suffered their first defeat of the Premier League season yesterday.

Mo Salah scored the goal in a 1-0 victory for Liverpool at Anfield.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he "went over the top" so fully deserved his red card towards the end of his side's 1-nil victory over Premier League champions Manchester City.

He was furious a foul on goal-scorer Mohamed Salah had not been given and was sent from the touchline after aiming his anger at the assistant referee.

Klopp says it's hard to understand the officials' decision:

City's result means Arsenal now have a four-point lead at the top, following their 1-0 defeat of Leeds.

Chelsea's good form continued with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa while Southampton and West Ham played out a 1-1 draw.

Manchester United and Newcastle's meeting at Old Trafford finished goalless.

Derry City and Shelbourne are through to this year's FAI Cup final.

The Candystripes were 2-1 winners over Treaty United yesterday.

Gavin Molloy's goal was enough for Shels to beat Waterford 1-0 in their semi-final clash at the RSC.

The decider will take place at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday the 13th November.

Shamrock Rovers' SSE Airtricity League Premier Division title ambitions took a dent yesterday.

The champions still have a six-point lead at the top - but they were held to a 1-1 draw by Drogheda United.

Second-placed Derry City have a game in hand on Rovers, while the two sides are set to play each other on Sunday week.

RUGBY LEAGUE

Ireland got their Rugby League World Cup campaign off to a winning start last night.

They ran in ten tries in a 48 points to two win over Jamaica at Headingley.

Ireland play Lebanon next Sunday in their second Group C match.
