It was a key weekend for Kildare senior footballers and hurlers.
The four Leinster football quarter finals were played yesterday.
Kildare beat Laois 2-20 to 2-15.
Kildare conceded two first half goals and missed a penalty.
But, Kildare improved hugely in the 2nd half, adding a Daragh Kirwan goal and some great point scoring by Eoin Cully, Ben Loakman and Ben McCormack.
They’ll play Westmeath in the semi-final in Tullamore on Sunday May 3rd.
Westmeath had their 2nd ever championship win over Meath yesterday, winning by 4-18 to 25 points in Tullamore.
Dublin and Louth will meet in the other semi-final.
Dublin struggled against a Wicklow side who dominated them for long periods, but eventually won by 2-16 to 2-14.
They will play reigning champions Louth in the semi-final. Louth beat Wexford yesterday by 1-25 to 11 points.

On Saturday, in the Leinster championship, the Kildare senior hurlers played Wexford in Cedral St. Conleth's Park
Kildare led early in the first half and were level at half time.
With 20 minutes remaining Wexford's lead was only 3 points, before some errors led to easy Wexford points to win by 1-22 to 1-14

It was a historic day for Athy Rugby Club as they won the 99th Bank of Ireland Leinster Towns Cup, beating Tullow yesterday 41-26 in Edenderry RFC.
Athy led by 27 points at half time.
Athy become the eighth club to win successive Towns Cups, joining Tullow on that list.
