Soccer
In the World Cup, Argentina survived a major scare to reach the last 16 after beating Cape Verde 3-2 following extra-time.
Egypt also progressed, defeating Australia 4-2 on penalties after their tie finished 1-all.
Portugal edged past Croatia 2-1, Switzerland beat Algeria 2-nil, and Colombia saw off Ghana 1-nil.
The Round of 16 gets underway today.
Co-hosts Canada play Morocco at 6 this evening, before France play Paraguay at 10.
Tomorrow, Brazil play Norway from 9, then England are away to Mexico at 1am on Monday morning.
Rugby
In Rugby, Ireland head coach Andy Farrell insists Sam Prendergast has "earned the right" to start at out-half.
The Kildare 23-year-old has endured a challenging season, where he lost his place in the Ireland team to Jack Crowley during the Six Nations, and was behind Harry Byrne at Leinster for big games in Europe.
