Dublin and Monaghan to contest first All Ireland football semi-final.

GAELIC GAMES


Dublin and Monaghan contest the first of this year's All Ireland football semi-finals at Croke Park at 5.30.


It is the first championship meeting between the sides since 2017, when the Dubs won by 10 points.


Today they are aiming to avoid a third successive all Ireland semi final defeat.


While Monaghan are hoping to reach the Sam Maguire decider for the first time since 1930.


That will be proceeded by Tailteann Cup final between Meath and Down at 3.00.

 

Robertstown beat Athgarvan by 0-08 to 0-07 in Group B of the Tom Cross Transport Junior Football Championship last night.

Kill and Rheban play at 3.30 at Manguard Park this afternoon.

In Group A, Ballykelly and Grangenolvin meet at 2.00.

3.00 is the start time for the match between Milltown and Castlemitchell.

While Monasterevan and Rathangan contest the Hanlon Concrete Senior Football League Division 3 Final at 5.00.

 

There’s a repeat of last year’s final among today’s All Ireland Women’s Football Championship quarter finals.

Reigning champions Meath and take on Kerry in Tralee at 7.30.

Galway and Mayo meet in Salthill at 1.30

And Armagh take on Cork at Athletic Grounds at 3.30.

 

SOCCER

Bohemians drew 1-1 draw with Dublin rivals Shelbourne in the SSE Airtricity Premier Division last night.  

Elsewhere, Drogheda were 3-1 winners away to UCD.

Two teams in danger of finishing in the relegation playoff spot meet this evening at the Showgrounds.

Ireland coach Richie Murphy says his players can hold their heads high despite their defeat in the World Under-20 Championship final.

They suffered a 50-points to 14 defeat to France in Cape Town last night.

Four Kildare players were involved in the matchday squad, Suncroft's Cian Prendergast, Sallins' Diarmuid Mangan, Naas' Andrew Osborne and Naas RFC's Oscar Cawley.
