Burdett Road at 66/1 was in second place
There was a shock in the Champion Hurdle on Day 1 of the Cheltenham Festival this afternoon.
25/1 shot Golden Ace claimed the victory with Lorcan Williams on-board, with Burdett Road in second at 66/1.
It was expected that Constitution Hill, Brighterdaysahead and State Man would battle it out for victory, but that wasn't to be, with Constitution Hill and State Man both falling.
Earlier, Lossiemouth successfully defended her Mares' Hurdle crown.
The six-year-old stormed home as odds-on favourite, handing trainer Willie Mullins a second win of the festival.
The Mullins stable also claimed victory in the opening race, with Paul Townend piloting Kopek Des Bordes to claim the Michael O'Sullivan Supreme Novices' Hurdle.
