Yesterday was a busy day for local GAA.

In the Future Ticketing Minor Hurling C Championship Final Wolfe Tones 1-18, Droichead Nua 1-14.

The Osprey Hotel & Spa Reserve Football C Final, Leixlip 2-15, Allenwood 0-12.

D Final in Manguard Park Pitch 1, Castledermot 3-10, Rathangan 0-08.

F Final in Clane, Ballymore Eustace 1-12,  Rathcoffey 0-08.

Today, in the UPMC Kildare Senior Hurling Final in Cedral St Conleth's Newbridge, Maynooth play Naas 3:30pm.

SOCCER
Ireland remain winless in their World Cup qualifying campaign after a 1-0 loss to Portugal last night.

A 91st minute header handed the hosts a 1-0 victory in Lisbon.

Heimir Hallgrimsson's side have picked up just one point after three games, and sit 3 points off Hungary in second.

Tuesday's opponents, Armenia, were beaten 2-0 by Group F's second placed side.

BOXING
Irish boxers are a step closer to participating in the LA Olympics in three years time.

Governing body the IABA has voted to disaffiliate with the controversial IBA and align itself fully with new organisation World Boxing.

The motion was passed at the association AGM in Belfast, with 81 per cent of members present voting in favour.

Olympic organisers had threatened to drop boxing from the games if countries continued to associate with the International Boxing Association.


GOLF
Tom McKibbin is six shots off the lead and in with a shout ahead of the final round of the Spanish Open on the DP World Tour.

The Northern Irishman is 10 under par following yesterday's up and down round of 67 in Madrid.

He'll tee off this morning in the next few minutes.

Marco Penge of England holds a four shot lead there on 16 under par.
