Roscommon manager Davy Burke expresses regret over one point loss to Cork

GAELIC GAMES

Roscommon manager Davy Burke feels last weekend's one point defeat to Cork in the All Ireland senior football championship is something the county will regret.

The Rebels have advanced to a quarter final meeting with Derry at Croke Park on Sunday and with the championship having an open feel, Burke is wondering how far Roscommon could have gone.

The Confey native commented;

Tonight in the UPMC Senior B Hurling Championship:

Kilcock play Leixlip.

Throw-in at Manguard Park Pitch 2 is at 7:30pm.

RUGBY

Suncroft's Sam Prendergast proved crucial in securing a win for Ireland’s U20s, he kicked two penalties and a conversion.

Ireland's under 20 players have got the win they needed against Australia in the World Championship in South Africa.

Naas RFC's Andrew Osborne was also in action this morning.

Richie Murphy's team prevailed in difficult conditions by 30 points to 10 and importantly, they earned a bonus point.

James Nicholson's try helped Ireland come from 10-3 down to lead 11-10 at the break.

And the Irish added further tries in the second half from Brian Gleeson, Gus McCarthy and Diarmuid Mangan - the fourth try coming in the last play.

Jack Oliver also added a conversion.

So that's a win and a draw for Ireland.

Next up for Ireland is Fiji on Tuesday - the Fijians play England later.

Padraig Harrington begins the defence of his US Senior Open title later.

He tees off in a group alongside Darren Clarke in Wisconsin.
