Tuesday Lunch Sports Update: Carabao Cup Takes Centre Stage Tonight.

A number of Premier League clubs return to action tonight, following the break for the World Cup.

The last 16 in the Carabao Cup gets underway, with the one all-Premier League tie involving Newcastle and Bournemouth.

Elsewhere, Leicester City go to MK Dons, Southampton face Lincoln City and Wolves take on Gillingham.

Julen Lopetegui (pr: You-len Lop-et-egg-ee) takes charge of Wolves for the first time in that match.

All four games get underway at 7.45.

Rangers can move to within six points of Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic tonight.

Mick Beale's side take on third-placed Aberdeen from 8pm at Pittodrie.

Argentina's World Cup winners have arrived back home for a day of celebrations - marked by a national holiday.

Captain Lionel Messi stepped off the plane in Buenos Aires around 2am local time, holding the trophy above his head.

The squad boarded an open top bus and later, they'll head to the Obelisk in Buenos Aires - where thousands gathered for Sunday's win over France.


RUGBY

English Premiership side Bath have confirmed the signing of out-half Finn Russell.

The Scotland international - who is currently at Racing- will link up with the club following next year's World Cup.

It's understood Russell's contract is worth just over 1-milion euro a year.

Bath are currently coached by former Munster boss Johann van Graan.


DARTS

Former champion Raymond van Barneveld is among those in action at the PDC World Championship tonight.

He's due on stage for the final match of tonight's session against Ryan Meikle.

The winner will play world number one Gerwyn Price, who advanced after a 3-1 win over Luke Woodhouse last night.


CRICKET

England have become the first away cricket side to complete a 3-nil series whitewash in Pakistan.

Set 167 to win in Karachi, they scored the remaining 55 runs they needed inside just 38 minutes to win by eight wickets.


HORSE RACING

There's a meeting over jumps today at Naas.

The going is yielding and the first race goes to post in the next few minutes at five-past-12.
